I was involved in a conversation a few months back with a heavy road construction contractor, and he was telling me about an interesting technology innovation that he was using. Equipment theft is a constant risk that must be mitigated through physically safeguarding the assets as well as insuring against loss, which can be costly. He said that a GPS-based fleet tracking platform, besides being a valuable tool in managing his fleet, is also effective as an electronic tracking device in case of theft or misappropriation. Two major benefits for the price of one. Does anyone know if insurance costs go down with the implementation of GPA tracking? I didn’t think to ask him, but I’ll find out.

iPad App to Replace Printed Blueprints?
This is an interesting technology innovation. I wonder if this will catch on? Bet it does. The construction industry is being dragged into the 21st century, whether we like it or not. And those of us that adapt will thrive. I’m looking for the app that forces PM’s to obtain signed CO’s before performing the work. And another to prevent job fade. Nirvana!
